30 Venus Drive, Singapore 573858, Singapore
Windsor Nature Park opened in 2017 as the quiet back door into the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, 75 hectares of regenerating rainforest with a trailhead most delegates will never see. From the entrance at 30 Venus Drive it is roughly two kilometres of boardwalk and dirt trail to the HSBC TreeTop Walk, a 250-metre freestanding suspension bridge slung between two of the reserve's higher ridges. Long-tailed macaques patrol the handrails. The crossing runs one way only, so you commit at the start and return on the ground.
This is the one entry on the list where nobody will pitch you anything. The park sits about 11 kilometres north of the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, well outside the ride-hailing surge that forms around Bayfront on 7 and 8 October. The catch is the timetable. The TreeTop Walk runs Tuesday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:45, opens at 08:30 on weekends and public holidays, and closes on Mondays. Both 2026 conference days fall midweek, so the bridge is open, but four kilometres of walking either side of a 09:00 opening rules out a 10:00 keynote.
October is the inter-monsoon period, and the Meteorological Service Singapore expects thunderstorms, at times severe, in the afternoon and early evening. The month averages 168.3 millimetres of rain across about 15 rain days, with relative humidity near 82 per cent. The forest canopy is not shelter. Entry costs nothing, which stands out in a week when everything around Marina Bay is priced for an expense account.
Pro Tip: Tap in at any MRT gate before 07:45 on a weekday and the short-distance adult train fare drops to SGD 0.78, roughly EUR 0.55. Ride the Thomson-East Coast Line to Upper Thomson (TE8), walk the 1.2 km down Upper Thomson Road, and be at the Venus Drive trailhead by 08:00.
