About gamescom 2026
gamescom is the largest games event in the world, and in 2026 it runs from 26 to 30 August at Koelnmesse in Cologne, with the Opening Night Live showcase on Tuesday 25 August. Expect more than 335,000 visitors and over 1,500 exhibitors across 230,000 square metres of halls: playable previews, esports stages, cosplay, and the year's biggest game announcements.
Day tickets are sold per day and the busiest days, Saturday especially, sell out well ahead. Hotels do the same: with a third of a million visitors in town, Cologne fills up and rates climb, so book as early as you can. Staying in Deutz puts you next to the fairgrounds, while the city centre across the Rhine keeps you close to the cathedral, the Old Town, and the Kölsch taverns.
Koelnmesse has its own S-Bahn station (Köln Messe/Deutz) one stop from the central station, and trams run to the halls from across the city. If Cologne is full, Düsseldorf and Bonn are both around 30 minutes away by frequent trains.
