Updated
trip1 is a hotel booking platform where you can book from over 3 million hotels in 190+ countries and pay with 50+ cryptocurrencies through CoinGate, trip1's MiCA-licensed crypto payment provider. This guide shows you how to pay with SOL, including the memo step that many people miss.
Why Solana works well for hotel payments
Solana is built for speed. According to Solana's developer docs, a new block is produced roughly every 400 milliseconds, and the base network fee is 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL) per signature.
That means your payment lands almost instantly for far less than a cent - a good fit when you want a fast booking confirmation.
How to pay with Solana - step by step
Step 1: Choose your hotel and select Pay with crypto
Search for your hotel on trip1, pick your dates and room, and check the cancellation policy. At checkout, choose Pay with crypto.
Step 2: Select SOL in the CoinGate window
In the CoinGate payment window, choose Solana (SOL). SOL uses the Solana network only, so make sure your wallet or exchange sends on Solana too.
Step 3: Choose how you want to pay
You can scan the QR code or copy the address and memo into your wallet or exchange, connect a wallet such as Trust Wallet with WalletConnect, or use Binance Pay. CoinGate may ask for a one-time Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFR) form, which is an EU compliance step.
Step 4: Add the memo and send the exact amount
Copy the memo from the invoice into the memo field of your wallet or exchange withdrawal, then send the exact SOL amount before the countdown ends. If you pay from an exchange such as OKX, add the withdrawal fee on top so the full amount arrives.
Step 5: Wait a few seconds for confirmation
CoinGate detects your SOL transaction almost as soon as you send it.
Step 6: Check your confirmation email
trip1 confirms your booking and emails you the details. If you sent too little or too late, the invoice lets you top up or request a refund.
Important: Never send SOL without the memo shown on the invoice. Without it, CoinGate cannot match the payment to your booking automatically, and you will need to contact support to have it completed manually or refunded.
What if my wallet has no memo field?
Some wallets don't let you add a memo. In that case, don't send from that wallet - use WalletConnect, an exchange withdrawal with a memo field, or Binance Pay, which needs no memo.
