Hotels in Cannes

Cannes is a glamorous resort city on the French Riviera, synonymous with its annual film festival, palm-lined promenade, and sweeping bay on the Mediterranean. Once a modest fishing village, it grew into a byword for luxury in the 19th century, and today balances designer boutiques and grand hotels with a walkable old quarter and easy access to the wider Côte d'Azur.

The seafront Boulevard de la Croisette runs past the Palais des Festivals, sandy beaches, and belle-époque façades, while the old town of Le Suquet climbs the hill to a castle and panoramic views. Just offshore, the Lérins Islands offer pine forests and a monastery, and the perfume town of Grasse and hilltop villages lie a short drive inland.

Cannes is compact and easily explored on foot, with a warm, dry Mediterranean climate. It's busiest and priciest during the May film festival and high summer, but spring and autumn bring pleasant weather and thinner crowds.
