Hotels in Guam

Guam is the largest island in Micronesia and an unincorporated territory of the United States, which makes it an unusual hybrid: American infrastructure, currency and phone networks wrapped around indigenous CHamoru culture and three centuries of Spanish colonial history, set on a tropical Pacific island four hours from Tokyo.

Most visitors base themselves in Tumon, a crescent bay lined with hotels, duty-free malls and restaurants that has long drawn Japanese and Korean holidaymakers. Beyond it the island opens up: Two Lovers Point on the northern cliffs, the Spanish-era bridges and Latte Stone Park in Hagåtña, the war relics and jungle of the southern villages, and dive sites including the Blue Hole and a Japanese freighter resting on top of a German cruiser in Apra Harbor.

The climate is warm and humid year-round, with a drier season from December to June and a wetter, typhoon-prone stretch from July to November. Guam is compact enough to circle in a day, and a rental car is the practical way to see anything outside Tumon.
