Hotels in Cairns

Cairns is a small tropical city in Far North Queensland and the main launch point for two UNESCO World Heritage sites - the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, the world's oldest tropical rainforest. The Esplanade, with its saltwater lagoon, runs along the city's mangrove-fringed waterfront.

Most visitors come for the water and the rainforest: day boats and liveaboards to the outer reef from Cairns Marina, the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail through the rainforest, the Atherton Tablelands for waterfalls and dairy, and onward routes north to Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge, and Cape Tribulation.
