Qatar is a small Gulf peninsula built around Doha, where the Museum of Islamic Art, the restored Souq Waqif and the Corniche skyline sit within a few kilometres of each other. Beyond the capital the country is desert — the inland sea at Khor Al Adaid, dune camps, and the coastal fort at Al Zubarah. Hamad International is one of the world's busiest transfer hubs, which makes Qatar an easy stopover of two or three days on routes between Europe, Asia and Australia.
