1Christmas Market in Piazza Fiera - Chalets by the Medieval Walls

The main Trento Christmas market fills Piazza Fiera, a square bordered by a stretch of the city's medieval walls and a round tower. Wooden chalets sell Trentino handicrafts, wooden toys, woollen goods, ceramics and Christmas decorations, along with products from Alto Adige and other northern Italian regions.
The 2026 market runs from 20 November to 6 January, according to the Dolomiti tourism portal. From 26 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, the whole market opens from 10am to 8pm, except 31 December. On 24 and 31 December and 6 January, it opens from 10am to 6pm, and on Christmas Day from 4pm to 8pm.
The market focuses on local and sustainable products, which helped it win certification as a green event.
2Piazza Cesare Battisti - The Food Court and Trentino Flavours

Piazza Cesare Battisti hosts the market's food area, with around 20 additional chalets serving traditional Trentino dishes. Here visitors can try canederli (bread dumplings), polenta with cheese or mushrooms, sausages with sauerkraut, apple strudel and hot drinks such as vin brulé (mulled wine).
On 20 and 21 November and 7 December 2026, the food area has extended hours from 10am to 9pm, according to the Dolomiti tourism portal.
The square is a lively meeting point in the evenings, with tables and standing areas where locals and visitors gather. It is the best place to taste the region's food at the Trento Christmas market.
3Piazza Duomo - The Christmas Tree and Neptune Fountain

Piazza Duomo, Trento's grand main square, is home to the city's large Christmas tree, set up beside the Baroque Neptune Fountain and the Romanesque Cathedral of San Vigilio. The square is surrounded by frescoed Renaissance houses and the Palazzo Pretorio, all lit up for the festive season.
The cathedral is famous as the setting of the Council of Trent, held in the 16th century, which shaped the Catholic Church for centuries.
The square is a short walk from the market squares, and the surrounding streets are decorated with lights, making it a natural stop between the stalls of the Trento Christmas market.

4Santa's House in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore - For Families

Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, beside the church of the same name, is dedicated to children during the Christmas season, with Santa's House (Casa di Babbo Natale) where families can meet Santa Claus. The area has hosted activities, games and workshops for children in recent years.
The church of Santa Maria Maggiore, a Renaissance basilica, also played a role in the Council of Trent, hosting some of its sessions.

5Levico Terme Habsburg Christmas Market - A Day Trip

The spa town of Levico Terme, in the Valsugana valley east of Trento, hosts a Christmas market in the grounds of its Habsburg-era park, among tall trees and historic buildings. Wooden chalets sell crafts, decorations and local food, and the setting has an old-fashioned charm.
In 2025, the Levico Terme Christmas market ran from 22 November to 6 January, according to listings. The 2026 dates had not been announced at the time of writing.
