Weather in Turkey in August

August is July with less patience: the busiest coast, the warmest sea, and the same heat. If you want quiet, this is the wrong month for Antalya and Bodrum. If you want the water at its most inviting, it is the month the sea has been working toward.

Everything that is true in July is louder. Families, night-time harbour strips, full boats to the coves. Inland is for people with a reason to be inland, not for a casual add-on.

What to expect

Daytime

Hot days, warm nights on the coast. The interior can be fiercer. Early starts are not optional for walking sites. The smart August ruin visit is the first slot, then back to the water.

Evenings on the harbour are the social season. That is either the point or a reason to stay in a quieter cove out of town. Istanbul in August is a sweaty city; the ferry helps, the bazaar does not.

Rain

Still the dry season on the holiday coasts. Do not build the trip around rain. A shock storm makes the news because it is rare, not because you should plan for a wet week.

Further north and on the Black Sea the pattern is less obedient. For the Mediterranean and Aegean strips that dominate August bookings, sun is the default.
