Weather in Turkey in November

November is off-season. The coast is quiet and the sea is for the stubborn. Cities, food and the interior (if you like cold clear days) are the trip. Cappadocia can be stark and good. The Antalya strip is a different town with the volume turned down.

This is not a failed summer. It is a different product. Book it that way or pick another month.

What to expect

Daytime

Cool. A coat in the interior and in Istanbul. The far south is milder but not terrace weather all day. Walking is the right pace; lingering on a sunlounger is an act of will.

Clear November days on the plateau are the reason some people prefer this to April. The nights will not agree. Pack for both, and for a wind off the water on the south coast that feels colder than the map suggests.

Rain

A wetter month again, especially in the north-west and on the Black Sea. Istanbul in November is rain on the Bosphorus, which is either atmospheric or a reason you packed the wrong shoes.

The Mediterranean is the drier wintering coast, not a dry climate. Showers happen. The difference from January is mostly that you still get decent stretches of walking weather between them.
