Weather in Turkey in July

July is high summer on the Turkish coast: packed resorts, a sea-first itinerary, and heat that pushes sightseeing to morning and evening. The plateau is harsher than the shore. This is the month the brochure was photographed in, crowds included.

Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum and Marmaris run at capacity. If quiet is the brief, this is the wrong month for those names. If the brief is the sea, it is the right one.

What to expect

Daytime

Hot. Plan ruins at opening time, beaches and shade after that. The Lycian towns that feel charming in April feel exposed in July unless you have water and a siesta.

Istanbul is humid rather than resort-hot, which is not a relief so much as a different discomfort. Cappadocia in July is a very early start. The coast at night stays warm; you will not need the jumper you packed for spring.

Rain

Dry on the south and west. A thunderstorm inland is possible; it is not a rainy month. Do not build the trip around weather windows. Build it around shade and swimming.

The Black Sea can still throw a wet day at you. That is not the July that Bodrum is having. Read the region, not the country name on the ticket.
