Dallas Travel Facts
Dallas is the largest city in Texas and one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. A city of bold ambition and striking contrasts, it combines gleaming corporate towers with a thriving arts district, world-class museums, and a food scene that ranges from legendary Texas barbecue to Michelin-recognised fine dining.
The city is anchored by the Arts District - the largest urban arts district in the United States - and the historic West End, while neighbourhoods like Deep Ellum deliver live music and creative energy every night of the week. The Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science all sit within walking distance of each other downtown.
Dallas is a FIFA World Cup 2026 host city, with matches scheduled at AT&T Stadium in nearby Arlington. The DFW metroplex offers excellent hotel infrastructure, easy airport connections, and a famously warm welcome for international visitors.

Dallas Destination FAQ
Spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) are the best times to visit Dallas. Temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 15-25°C, and the city's outdoor spaces and sports venues are at their most enjoyable. Summer is brutal - temperatures regularly hit 38°C (100°F) and above - so if you visit in summer, plan indoor activities and stay hydrated. Winter is mild by most standards but occasional ice storms can disrupt travel.
The DART Orange Line connects DFW Airport directly to downtown Dallas. Trains run from both Terminal A and Terminal B, and the journey to the city centre (CityLine/Bush Turnpike or downtown stations) takes around 45 minutes and costs $2.50. Rideshares (Uber, Lyft) take 25-35 minutes without traffic and cost $35-55. Taxis are available from all terminals.
Dallas is a sprawling city built around the car, but you can get around without one if you stay downtown or Uptown. The DART light rail network connects major areas including downtown, Uptown, Deep Ellum, and the Arts District. For AT&T Stadium in Arlington - the FIFA World Cup venue - you will need a rideshare, shuttle, or car, as Arlington is not connected to DART.
Two to three days is enough to cover the main highlights - the Arts District, Dealey Plaza and the JFK sites, Deep Ellum for nightlife, and a proper Texas BBQ meal. Add a day for a day trip to Fort Worth (30 minutes by commuter rail), which has its own excellent stockyards and cultural district. World Cup visitors combining a match with sightseeing should budget three days minimum.
Dallas is safe in its main tourist and entertainment areas. Uptown, the Arts District, Klyde Warren Park, and Deep Ellum are all well-frequented and generally safe day and night. As with any large city, be aware of your surroundings in less populated areas after dark. The Downtown area around Main Street Garden and Reunion Tower is visitor-friendly and well-patrolled.
